We are back! Sorry for the long pause, but Campbell and I have been busy.
In this episode we talk about some Blender development news, Campbell reports about his first weeks in Amsterdam for the Mango Open Movie project and the film shot, and I report about the FMX conference in Stuttgart.

. Keep up the good work guys!
This one was really really interesting, thanks you very much guys for these podcast. Pretty much the only source of in deep blender development status/panorama
Campbell – without any spoilers – what’s your opinion about this rough edit of “Mango”, I mean – is it something you expected, or is it something beyond your expectations? Or perhaps you are slightly dissapointed?
@mookie – some of the shots with just green screen are hilarious, others are just a bit silly…
Disappointed? – no, After seeing the guys do Quit-Blender Im sure we can make something good from the film shot, but I can see others might be disappointed if they expect this stuff to be impressive as it stands…. so I think this is why Ian isn’t releasing yet.
@Campbell:
If you’re worried about not knowing Ian well enough for a podcast interview, I can hop on skype to help out!
thx for another cool podcast ,I hope next podcast will be sooner
Thanks for this awesome podcast, keep up your good work, cheers!
@Cessen – hah thanks!, its mostly that things are busy and suggesting interviews feels like a bit of a distraction in the studio, but if you like to be involved and do some interviews this would be great too.
I’m not set on this just being Thomas and myself – would be happy to play interviews from others and involve wider blender community.
we can discuss over mail if you’re interested.
Wow what an entertaining episode. Thanks guys I really like the banter mixed with facts. It’s really interesting to hear how life is for developers at the coal face. Mango sounds hard, can’t believe how much the team has bitten off to chew.
Campbell I was wondering if the idea of an EDL in Blender for time management of assets is still on your drawing board? Your old BA thread considered importing EDLS from external video editing tools. However given the work going into the compositor now, would access to a VSE strip’s time metadata be more useful? That is, plugging edit decisions from your video edit into a Comp node input (frame start, frame length, frame offset).
How is Mango handling asset integration between edit/timeline and various tools (3D, nodes etc.)?
